add dimensions

I love having nanocad for personal use for free. I'm a retired ACAD instructor and nanocad so closely relates that i've appreciated its use.
However i just now got to the point of needing to add dimensions to my plot plan drawing and with ACAD, i did 3 clicks and dimension pops in there. I can't seem to figure out why nanocad operates differently. I've looked at forums, the help menu,
googled it, changed settings, but i must be missing something.
Could you please direct me the steps to add simple dimensions to my drawing?
