Point Cloud | Intensity

Jason Warren's Photo Jason Warren 31 Oct 2021

Hi,
If I open one of my point cloud pts files in Cloudcompare I can see the intensity values being displayed below:

But if I open the same pts file in nanoCAD I don't get the same result, see below.

How do I achieve the same result in nanoCAD?

Many thanks

Hi,
I imported the *.pts file and selected Intensity in the import options here:

But this didnt import the PTS showing Intensity values, as shown below.

I then tried View Mode and I guess I need to define the colour ramp here? It looks like it would take quite a while to do and there doesn't appear to be anyway to Save the user defined colour ramp afterwards either?

So I am guessing that in order to view Intensity values of a point cloud a user has to define a colour ramp in View Mode, without out the facility to save it?
Is this right?

It would be really usefull if I could import the Colour Ramp from Cloudcompare, see below:

I have exported the Cloudcompare Intensity Colour Ramp to an *.xml file. Contents below: Can this be imported into nanoCAD?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<CloudCompare>
    <ColorScale version="1">
	    <Properties>
		    <name>CC_Colour Ramp for nanoCAD</name>
		    <uuid>{de10ba09-95cc-4808-a85f-f6a36bea1faa}</uuid>
		    <absolute>0</absolute>
	    </Properties>
	    <Data>
		    <step r="0" g="0" b="255" pos="0"/>
		    <step r="0" g="255" b="0" pos="0.333333333333"/>
		    <step r="255" g="255" b="0" pos="0.666666666667"/>
		    <step r="255" g="0" b="0" pos="1"/>
	    </Data>
    </ColorScale>
</CloudCompare>

I managed to emulate the Cloudcompare Intensity colour ramp below:

It would be good to have an option to save user defined colour ramps and also be able to import Cloudcompare colour ramps *.xml files like the one in the previous post.

Hello, Jason!
In one of the next versions, we plan to add coloring of the cloud by intensity using color. We will add functionality for importing and saving coloring templates.
