How to select middle of an item or a line?

Sorry this might be a noob question but i just switch from Autocad LT.
Is it possible to select the middle of an object / line when moving the mouse cursor over the item? What setting need to be select or apply to enable this?
Current i cant only select an object from the corner point only!

Typically this would be done with snaps.
In the menu
Tool - Drafting Settings - Object snaps tab.
Make sure midpoint is checked.
