Cannot use offset

Bob Dabkowski's Photo Bob Dabkowski 28 Dec 2020

Hello,

I am using NanoCAD5, and in previous drawings was able to use the offset command to create plumbing and tubing by offsetting splines. Something has changed, and now the offset command does not work -- when I select a spline and try to offset the appropriate distance, NanoCAD tells me "Cannot offset that object."

I've tried it with straight lines, and experience the same problem.

What has changed? Is there a setting that needs to be adjusted? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
check objects which you try to offset: are they located in xy plane?

I believe so, but am new to CAD. See the attached image -- does that confirm the XY plane?

Are you asking for this detail from the "Inspector" or something else?

Bob, read User Guide, it explains how the program works. User Guide in PDF format can be found in Help subfolder in product folder or you can use shortcut from Start menu - NanoSoft - nanoCAD - User Guide.
Also you can watch videos in our youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/nanoCADcom/videos

Hellen, thank you very much for the terrible answer. I have read the help files, the user guide, and this forum and none of those resources address the error message "Cannot offset this object". Is there another resource that addresses this error message?

If not, I am hopeful that others may have experienced this error and can share their resolution.
