Hatch solid color not working.

I was used to working with Autodesk Autocad in the past , but i no longer have acces to that program. So the free Nanocad was the closest and best working option.
Question : When using the hatch option you could select solid color instead of a line pattern in Autodesk Cad when you selected area's (pickpoints). I can select a solid color in Nanocad...but when i pick the area's to fill , only the borderlines get the color....the area remains empty. If however i choose the option to fill with a pattern instead of solid color...the area does fill with that pattern. What am i doing wrong ??

I need to start reading previous questions posted about hatch on this forum. I found the solution by selecting SH in the status bar.
