how to cut a drawing?
franz_rm 11 Jan 2016
Hi,
I tried to cut a drawing with nanocad 5 but I have not been able.
In particular, I have to cut a drawing with a full surface or with a mask.
Thank you.
Franz

Hello Franz,
what do you mean by "cut" a drawing?
CUT function moves selected objects to the clipboard.
TRIM command allows the trimming of vector objects by their boundaries (or boundary edges), specified for one or several objects.

Hello Hellen,
I meant to trim an area or surface.
I tried also with CLIP command because in Quantum Gis I often use this function, but without success in nanocad.
Can you help me.
Tanks.

nanoCAD can't cut surfaces, it works with 2D-drawings.
Do you need to change the geometry of clipped objects? If no, try to insert drawing as external reference and use XCLIP command. It's possible to clip blocks, external references and raster images.
It would be helpful if you could answer how do you use clipped parts of drawings?

I need to clip many objects (many layers) in a geological map.
I'll try to insert drawing as external reference and use XCLIP.
Many thanks for your advice.
I'll tell you if I have succeeded.
Bye
Franz

It's possible to clip layers, move objects from one layer to another, hide layers and other.
You can do it in nanoCAD 5, but nanoCAD Plus 7 has more functions for layers.

when you insert a drawing as block or Xref then you can use "xclip".
There is a big issue with Xclip.
i use big DWG files with a lot elements. When i xclip this drawing the mouse doesnt move smooth anymore.
So i try not to use xclip anymore.
So i have to split the drawing for each area. very hard to work so.
Support have no solution for me.
