is there a way to define a ucs via 3 points?
i do not see this in the ucs menu.

Hello Mark,
call UCS command, specify start point of UCS, then a point on the positive ray of the X axis, then a point on the positive ray of the Y axis in the XY plane.

I can not use object snap to Polyface mesh for the "mid point", only end point.
Is this normal behaviour?

Hellen_V, I use Nanocad 5 and this does not seem to work for me. I always used it in Autocad so I should be able to follow your instructions as they seem to be the same as in Autocad? To clarify, I am trying to rotate the modelspace so that I can draw four elevations arranged around the plan with the elevations always below the plan on the screen. Does this command not work in Nanocad 5?
