I discovered that I could erase original rectangular viewport, then insert a polygonal viewport. Don't know if I can modify an existing rectangular viewport by inserting new vertexes.

Hello!
In "View" - "Model Viewports" you can find icon called "Borders".
Click on triangle under it to show available options.
"By object" might be useful here.
It allows you to create viewport in any shape you want.
To do so create closed (it is important, that it'll be exactly - closed) object.
For example - call polilyne creation, then enter some points and in the end click right mouse button and select "Close".
Then call "By object" which was described above and on prompt to select closed object, select your previously created closed polyline.
That's it, you should get new viewport shaped as closed polyline.
