snap command problem

Hi am new to NanoCAD but not to AUTOCAD. I cannot get the snap command to work.
I assume it works the same as ACAD in that when set and ON the curser snaps to those increments.
Opening a new file no matter what SNAP increments I set from 1 -10000 the curser still moves smoothly.
The line dimensions below the command prompt also move in single numbers.
Can anyone help please ...I am stuck :-)
