Ordinate Dimensioning

jmiller's Photo jmiller 20 Apr 2016

Hello, I am new to nanoCAD. I have been using another CAD software similar to AutoCAD and decided recently to switch. I have been trying and trying to use the ordinate dimension command with some success, but cannot get it to work like I "think" it should.

My idea of how it should work is
1 - select a base point as 0
2 - specify all ordinate dimension points

But this is not working for me - to get the command to work properly, I need to re-select the base point each time. The end result is having all of my ordinate dimensions where I want them, but a pile of "0.00" base points on top of each other. This is frustrating because it makes messy prints and requires, in my opinion, unnecessary extra steps.

Is this how this command is supposed to work, or am I missing something?

Hello,

set one dimension (first point > second point > dimline location), then select Base option in command line and specify the endpoint of the second ordinate dimension.

There is no "base" option in the command line. If I type "base" and press enter, it changes the text of the dimension to "base". Are you referring to the "use database" command?
