I am trying to enter feet and inches into my drawing, but when I enter ...

Specify next point: 20',0-1/4
Specify next point: 20',1/4

It draws a angled line that is huge.

I am trying to enter a straight line at 20' 1/4"

How should this be entered into the cmd prompt?

Hi,
if you set first point by mouse click, then type @length<angle to draw line with desired length and angle from the previous point.

sorry should have been more clear.

I am trying to draw a straight line. The total length of the line is 20' 1/4"

How would I enter that?

I tried
20'0-1/4
20'1/4
20'-1/4

none of these seemed to give me the correct distance line.

check Units dialog: is type Architectural?
Then do the following:
1- set the first point
2 - then type @20'1/4<0
