Is there a switch to draw the dimension on a user layer? I get that DimLinear command creates a fundamental layer S-DIM, and does not start on CURRENT LAYER. I find I can delete the created layer, to the CURRENT LAYER, although it seems there might be a switch. Please advise.

I found it, it's very intuitive. It’s in Dimleader, double-click the leader, then opens “Note for multilayered constructions”. Then, at bottom left corner is Scalar Triangle icon “Global Options”-Symbols. Otherwise, it can be located at Tools-Design Settings-Symbols.
